“I don’t know how I got this way, so I’m breaking the habit, I’m breaking the habit tonight...”
Recovery is possible.
Yikes, things certainly don't feel that same as they did when you were younger. Thirsty Thursdays and beer pong on the weekends just aren't a thing anymore. Life showed up filled with stressful adulting responsibilities. A few drinks after work couldn’t hurt? …or does it?
Maybe you’ve started questioning your relationship to alcohol. Drinking has become almost necessary to enjoy events with others, but you don’t want it to be that way... But how do I even feel good sober?
Struggles with alcohol, or any substance for that matter, are typically a symptom of something else, whether it be stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, etc. Substance use is NOT moral failing, it simply could mean some much needed attention to your inner world is needed.
Freedom from substances is possible through effective counseling aimed at discovering the underlying reasons for use, fostering meaningful connections, unearthing your purpose in life, & becoming unstuck from harmful patterns.
"The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection."
My approach focuses on the importance of connection, starting with you and I. Shame keeps us isolated, connection gives us strength.
